Hot Fudge Cake

IMG_8250

This is a really simple recipe that I have made before in the oven and have also had a similar cake at a potluck that my cousin made in her crock pot. This recipe does not take any type of egg replacer and works almost like magic! The sauce tastes like a hot pudding more than a hot fudge sauce.

This is delicious with ice cream and I have even made it before using half whole wheat flour and it still turns out good!

Hot Fudge Cake

Combine dry ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Then mix together:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well with a mixer as it will be quite thick. Spread the batter into a 8 by 8 inch pan that has not been greased.

For the sauce, combine:

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

Spoon this dry mixture evenly over top of the cake batter.

Then pour over the top without stirring:

  • 1 and 3/4 cups boiling water

Bake approximately 40 minutes at 350 degrees F. The top will look like cake and the sauce will be underneath. Serve while warm.
